Medical: Our Medical Director examines each patient thoroughly to determine the source of the problem then forms a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs.

Marcono Hines, M.D. is Nova’s medical director.  With a degree in Family Practice and a keen interest in chronic pain issues, he brings years of experience to the people of New Bern.  Dr. Hines received his medical degree from the UNC in Chapel Hill.  Born in Kinston, N.C., he has always called eastern North Carolina his home.  Dr. Hines is a member of the American Academy of Pain Management and firmly believes in the benefits of blended healthcare for chronic pain.


Toni Rittenberg, L.Ac., M.D.(China) has dedicated her life to medicine in both the western and eastern disciplines. Born in Beijing, China, she began studying acupuncture at age 11. Toni holds a doctorate in western medicine and a Masters in Oriental Medicine. Toni completed her post-doctorate work at Harvard University and Shriner’s Burns Center, as well as a resident of New Bern for fifteen years.
